Bio
Anne Farrell is a Perth-based artist and educator working on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja. She holds a Diploma of Fine Arts from the Western Australian School of Art, Design and Multimedia, a Bachelor of Arts (Art) from Curtin University, and a Diploma of Education (Primary) from Edith Cowan University.

Primarily a portrait painter working in oil, Farrell creates contemplative depictions of women and children that explore memory, emotional nuance and the passage of time. Her paintings are often characterised by muted palettes and dark backgrounds that heighten psychological presence and intimacy. She revisits subjects over time, using portraiture as a way to mark transition, growth and life’s milestones.

Since 2000, Farrell has exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions across Western Australia and has been a regular finalist in multiple art awards. In 2024, she was awarded the Mentorship Program Award at the Belmont Art Awards. Her work is held in private collections nationally and internationally.

Alongside her studio practice, Farrell works as an art educator, balancing teaching with sustained creative practice.
